CLEMMER, Abraham

WELL KNOWN MAN DIED IN WASHINGTON STATE
Abraham Clemmer, a former resident of Berks county, died at North Yakima, Washington, aged 73 years, of cystitis. Deceased was born on the Clemmer farm, near Bechtelsville, and was a prosperous farmer. In 1897 he went west with his wife to make their home with their son, F.D. Clemmer. The couple had 11 children, of whom six survive with the widow. They are William A. Clemmer, Clayton; Mary Clemmer, Philadelphia; George Clemmer, Clayton; John D. Clemmer, Boies, Idaho; F.D. Clemmer, with whom deceased lived. He was ill but a few days before he succumbed. Interment was made in Tahoma cemetery, North Yakima.

ELMWOOD -- Aldonna Louise Clemmer, 73, of Culpeper, Va., died Sunday, Feb. 18, 1996, at her home. Born Aug. 8, 1922, in New Haven, Conn., to William and Louise Andrus, she married R. Thomas Clemmer on March 25, 1948. He died Dec. 22, 1990. She also was preceded in death by one brother. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Chris (Patricia) Ehret of Camarillo, Calif.; two grandchildren; and one brother, Kaye Andrus of Culpeper. Graveside services, with interment of cremains, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elmwood Cemetery in Elmwood. The Rev. Gary Hutton will officiate. Arthur E. Clemmer, 52, of Jackson Township died Wednesday in Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness. Born Nov. 5, 1945, in Columbus, he was a son of the late Raymond and Nettie Clemmer and lived in Massillon for the last 20 years. He was a general manager for Ganley Volkswagen and had worked previously at Axelrod Chrystler/Plymouth for 13 years during a lifelong career in the automobile business. Surviving are his wife, Helen E. Clemmer; and two daughters, Kristin and Karin Clemmer of Massillon. The funeral is a 10 a.m. in the Heitger Funeral Home Jackson Chapel with Rev. Ralph Young officiating. Burial is in Rose Hill Memorial Park. Calling hours are 7-9 tonight in the funeral home.

Ashton Price Clemmer, 51 of Big Chimney, died Tuesday morning 12/5/61at his home after suffering a heart attack. He was an employee of the State Road Commission, a World War II veteran and a member of the Massey Chapel Methodist church at Big Chimney. A retired Santa Fe Boilermaker who died Wednesday.(28 may 1980) Charles Byron Clemmer, son of Charles and Minnie Morris Clemmer was born Sept. 15 1902, in Lena Valley. He married Ester Rathke in Emporia on Dec. 20, 1922, and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Mary Jane Koerner of Carpinteria, Calif., and Glenda Mathias of Santa Barbara, Calif.; two sister, Mary Brickey of Hanford, Calif., and Ava Swarner of Jerome, Idaho; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. CLEMMER, Charles 'Chuck'
Chuck Clemmer, 71 of Mt Angel, died August 3, 2002 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland. Chuck, the son of Bill and Ruth Andersen Clemmer, was born December 12, 1930 at Hartford, Kan. The family moved to Medford, Ore. in 1941 and Chuck graduated from Jacksonville High School. Over the years he was very active as a bible student and teacher as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in many places in Oregon, Wyoming and Kansas. He and his wife also worked for many years in yard maintenance. In 2000 Chuck and his wife moved to Mt. Angel and he worked at the Wilco Farmers gas station in Silverton.
He enjoyed bible study, spending time with his family and outdoor actives and was a member of the Silverton congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He is survived by his wife, Aileen Clemmer, whom he married Feb. 14, 1953; his mother Ruth Clemmer of Reno, Nev.; three daughters, Charleen Worden of Enterprise, Sharon Hanscom of Mt. Angel and Ellen Mann of Loomis, Callif.; and sisters Eva Berton of Medford and Barbara Hammersley of Reno, Nev. He is also survived by three grandchildren, five nieces and three nephews.
Services were Monday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with interment following. Arrangements were by Unger Funeral Chapel.

CLEMMER, Charles William
Charles William Clemmer, a resident of the Harmony District for over 45 years passed away Christmas morning, Dec. 25, 1934, at 4 o'clock, at his new home in Hartford, surrounded by his loving wile, his seven children and his only surviving sister. Be was aged 63 years, 4 months and 15 dags. Enjoying comparatively good health until last summer the deceased was always found busy with his chosen work, that of a farmer. On December 3rd be was taken ill with heart trouble and on Monday Dec. 24th, suffered a stroke of paralysis, from which died at the time above stated, conscious until the last. He passed away the day before tbe 41st anniversary of his marriage Charles William Clemmer, son of James and Addie Clemmer, was born in Vermont ILLs, Aug. 10,1871. When 15 Years of age be came with his parents to Kansas in 1866 and settled in tbe Harmony school district southwest of Hartford. He was married to Miss Minnie Morris on Dec. 24,1893, and to this union children were born, four daughters and three sons, all of whom are living. They are, Miss Hattie Clemmer, a trained nurse; Mrs. H.B. Brickry; Sadie, Mrs. Jesse Cbambers.; Ava, Mrs. Clarence Swarner, aud Byron and William Clemmer, all of this place, and James Clemmer, of Emporia. Sixteen grandchildren, Farice, Francis aud LaVada Heller; Warren, Bonnie Mae and Wayne Brickey: Dale and George Swarner; James Junior, Doreen and Marlene Clemmer; Eva, Charles and Barbara Jean Clemmer, Mary Jane and Glenda Clemmer, and one sister, Mrs. Jessie Beach, of this place, also survive. The deceased united with the Methodist church at Harmony when a young man and has always lived a consistent Christian life. He was a loving husband and father, a true friend and loyal neighbor. Many a kindly deeds was .accredited to his thoughtfulness and supervision. He will be missed in the home circle, in the town and in Harmony district. Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the EImendaro Presbyterian church, conducted by a reader of the International Bible Student Body of Abilene. A quartet cormposed of Mesdames Ray Gardner and Chas. Jeannerett and Messrs. Chas. Crotchett and Merle Hcster, sang "SweetIy. Resting," ''Beautiful Isle of Somewhere'' and "The Old Rugged Cross." Mrs. H. O. Klosterman sang a solo "In the City Four Square." The pall-bearers were R. O. Gardner, Harry Williams, Frank Finnerty, A. H. Bassett, Joe Link and Chas. Nichols, Burial was made in the Lena VaIIey cemetery. The Times joins with friends in extending Sympathy to the bereaved family.

Surviving are her husband, Roy Clemmer; two sons, Rex of Factoryville and John of Camp Hill; a daughter, Susan Minahan of Camp Hill; three grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.

DR. E.F. "AL" CLEMMER, 68, superintendent of Widefield School District from 1969 to 1972, died Oct. 17, 1994, at his home. Private services have been held. Nolan Funeral Home, 225 N. Weber St., handled the arrangements. Dr. Clemmer was born April 21, 1926, in Sidney, Mont., to Elwin George and Alice Irene (Clutter) Clemmer. He was married in 1947 in California to Bertha Edith (Green) Clemmer, who survives. He also is survived by a son, Jeffrey R. of Loveland; a daughter, Alberta Kopitzke of Fort Collins; a sister, Maxine Valdez of Riverside, Calif.; three grandchildren; and two step- grandchildren. Dr. Clemmer served in the Navy during World War II. He had lived in Colorado Springs for many years and also lived in California, Nebraska and Massachusetts. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist. Dr. Clemmer earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, a master's degree from Claremont Graduate School in Claremont, Calif., and a doctorate degree in education from the University of Southern California. Through his many years in education, he served as teacher, counselor, vice principal, principal, personnel director, assistant superintendent and superintendent. After early retirement, he worked as a magazine editor and also taught graduate courses at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Neb. He authored a text book on school administration. Dr. Clemmer enjoyed sculpting, painting, woodcarving and writing and had several short stories published.

Edith Clemmer, 83, of 756 Harleysville Pike, Telford, died at home Sunday of natural causes. She was under the care of a physician. She was the wife of Joseph M. Clemmer, who died in October. A homemaker, she was a member of Towamencin Mennonite Church in Kulpsville. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Gideons International. Mrs. Clemmer enjoyed cooking, entertaining and traveling. Born in Mainland, she was the daughter of the late Warren K. and Martha Hendricks Alderfer. Effie L. Clemmer, 91, died Sunday at a local nursing home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. She was a member of Eastern Star for at least 60 years. She married Carl Brock Clemmer in 1934 in Baird; he preceded her in death. Elsie Frances Arnold Shepherd Clemmer was the daughter of William Findley Arnold and Ida Josephine Massengale. She was born July 30, 1907 in Palmer, Ellis Co., TX. She married Cecil Conrad Clemmer, son of Leander Roburtus Clemmer and Carrie Sydney Anderson, Feb. 23, 1971 in Graham, Young Co., TX. Cecil died Dec. 27, 1976 in Eagle Point, OR. He is buried at Nocona, Montague Co., TX. He was first married to Mary Elizabeth Hill, daughter of John Fletcher Hill and Jennie Mae McElroy, Oct 5, 1926. Cecil had no children. The information on Elsie came from an interview with her by Chera Clemmer March 18, 1994. Information on Cecil was from Chera's personal knowledge and from his first wife, Mary Hill. Elsie was a remarkable lady who loved to write and recite poetry. She appeared on a local TV station in Abilene after she moved there to live with a grandaughter several years ago. At that time, she recited one of the poems she had written.

E. Gregg Clemmer died Nov. 19, 2002, at age 81.
Mr. Clemmer was born Feb. 24, 1921, in Norristown, Pa. He graduated from Temple University and owned a furniture store in Topeka, Kan., and later owned Clemmer's Furniture in Boring, where he moved in 1956. He also published "A Few Poems for Children and Adults of All Ages." In 1943, he married Edith Hoopes.

Eugene Lloyd Clemmer 54 of Rt. 1 Ravenswood, WV, died at his residence Sunday afternoon 1/27/1974 of cancer. He was born in Kanawha County, was a member of the United Steelworkers, had been employed as a pipefitter at Kaiser Aluminum for 13 years and was a veteran of World War II.

Fred Paul Clemmer, Born October 9, 1911 in Benton, Polk County, Tennessee to George A. Clemmer and Callie Ballinger, died on December 5, 2000 of causes related to age. Fred is survived by his wife, B. Cecile McClellan Clemmer; daughter Kaylyn C. Maestas (husband Henry); son Terry P. Clemmer (wife Janice); and grandchildren Julie M. Poole (husband Steve), Kathy M. Klien (husband Gary), Edward P. Maestas, Craig A. Maestas, Kori Clemmer (wife Monica), and Xan C. Kali (husband Henry, deceased). Fred and Cecile have 13 great- grandchildren.
Fred was preceded in death by his siblings, John F.Clemmer, Kate C. Hutchins, Beatrice C. Franklin, Iola C. Lewis, Maude C. Franklin, Clarcie (Teat) C. Lillard and Huston W. Clemmer. Fred moved from Tennessee to the state of Washington to work on the Grand Coulee Dam during the Great Depression. Afterwards, he moved to Alaska to work, but upon being rejected by the military for a heart murmur, he relocated to Portland, Oregon to work in the shipyards during WWII. Here he met Cecile, a divorcee with two small children, who he adopted soon after their marriage. June 22, 1946.
The family moved to the Seattle-Tacoma area in 1947, where Fred and Cecile spent most of the rest of their lives. He owned the Midway Tavern for several years, selling it when he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) in 1960. He remained a faithful and devoted member of the church the rest of his life, and was a worker in the Seattle Temple from Oct. 1980 until his health would no longer permit in 1993. Fred loved his wife and family and put their welfare above all else. He was devoted to caring for his wife. He was a man of highest integrity who strived to always keep his word. He was a good man who set a high example for his family and friends. He will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church Federal Way Stake Center, 34815 Weyerhaeuser Way South, on Friday, December 8, 2000 at 1:00 PM. There will be a short viewing one hour prior to the funeral for family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at the Scotland Neck Pentecostal Holiness Church in Scotland Neck. Reverend Tony Smith will be presiding.
Ms. Clemmer was preceded in death by her husband, P.D. Clemmer and her brother, Charles F. Parker.
She is survived by her mother, Sallie C. Parker of Kelford; four daughters, Teresa Clemmer of Scotland Neck, Karen Clemmer and Pat Clemmer, both of Princeton and Debra C. Jensen of Port Huron, MI; two sons, Freddie Vann of Greenville and Wesley
Clemmer of Roanoke, VA; two sisters, Dorothy Newsome of Scotland Neck and Peggy Jones of Roanoke Rapids; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
The family will receive friends at 1719 Sherwood Drive, Scotland Neck, immediately following services at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart or Lung Association.

Clemmer. Born in Douglass Township, she was a daughter of the late Wallace B. and Mabel M. (Conrad) Kuser and was raised by the late LeRoy and Florence Gilbert. Clemmer was employed 18 years as a welder for the former Boyertown Auto Body Works, Boyertown, retiring in 1988 She was a member of Hereford Mennonite Church, Bally. She is also survived by a son, Brian L., Boyertown, R.D. 2, and a daughter, Sherry L. (Clemmer) Jessum, Perkiomenville, Montgomery County. Other survivors include five brothers: Paul Kuser and Glen Gilbert, both of Boyertown; Warren Kuser, Tucson, Ariz.; Wayne Kuser, Earlville; and Neil Gilbert, Barto. Born March 29, 1930, in Peoria to William and Mildred Linn Clemmer, he married Barbara D. Collins on April 24, 1949, in Peoria. She survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. David (Karen L.) Smith of Morton; two sons, James D. of Fresno, Calif., and Leslie A. of Peoria; six grandchildren; and one brother, Rodger of Dunlap. Harvey A. Clemmer, a retired real estate appraiser and business owner, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center in Pottstown. He was 79.
Mr. Clemmer, of Upper Salford, worked for Montgomery County for 30 years in the Office of the Recorder of Deeds and in the Board of Assessment as a real estate appraiser. Previously, he was the owner of E. F. Clemmer & Sons in Spring House.
He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Harleysville, Warren Lodge 310 F.& A.M. in Collegeville, Lehigh Consistory in Allentown, the Upper Salford Fire Co., where he was a past president, the Lower Frederick Fire Co., where he was a past vice president, the Montgomery County Clubmen's Association and the Perkiomen Valley Chamber of Commerce, where he was a past president. He was also a Republican Committeeman in Upper Salford for 30 years.
Mr. Clemmer was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He enjoyed crafts and woodworking.
Born in Spring Mount, he was a son of the late Elmer F. and Alice (Greaser) Clemmer.
Surviving are his wife, Joy (Sweisford) Clemmer; a daughter, Brenda J. Urbanski of Schwenksville; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Curtis, of Zieglersville.
Mr. Clemmer was preceded in death by a son, Jan A.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, 667 Harleysville Pike, Franconia.
Interment will be in Old Goshenhoppen Cemetery.

CLEMMER, Inez (Higgins)
Inez Higgins Clemmer, 95, of Cleveland passed away Monday, May 15, 2000 in a local hospital. She was born at the Higgins family residence in Old Fort on March 6, 1905, one of eight children of Frederick Dyke and Martha Catherine Dunn Higgins, members of pioneer Polk County families. Her ancestor, Col. Frederick Hambright, fought at King's Mountain in the Revolutionary War. With her family, she later moved to Benton where she graduated from Polk County High School. She graduated from Carson-Newman College in 1926 and then began, in the secondary schools of Polk County, her long career as an educator. In 1936 Inez Higgins married Jacob Lee Clemmer, also a member of an old Polk County family. To them was born a daughter, Nancy, who died in infancy. She was also preceded in death by her husband in 1993.
The Clemmers moved to Cleveland in the late 1930s where Mrs. Clemmer taught mathematics and Latin at Bradley Central High School. In 1954 she became the assistant principal of the high school, retiring in 1969 with the gratitude and affection of the many students whose lives she had deeply influenced. In private life Mrs. Clemmer was well known as an avid reader and friend of the Cleveland Public Library. She was an equally avid and accomplished Bridge player until diminishing eyesight in her nineties compelled her to stop. She was a member and sometimes trustee of Broad Street United Methodist Church and of its Parks-Johnston Sunday School class, which provided her, even after retirement, an opportunity to teach.
She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law: Kenneth and Jane Blair Higgins of Athens; sister-in-law Florence (Mrs. Roy) Higgins of Meigs County and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews to whom she was devoted.
Funeral services were held May 18 at Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Weikel and Dr. William "Bill" Johnson officiating. Interment in Benton Cemetery with Kent Smith, Alan Smith, Mike Christian, Fred Higgins, David Harris, Dr. Eddie Duncan and Dr. Bill Johnson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include the Parks-Johnston Sunday School class and the Monday Bridge Club. James Clemmer Dies Suddenly
This community was shocked Monday morning when it was learned that Jas. A. Clemmer had died suddenly the night before at his home southwest of town. At about 9 o'clock Sunday evening, he was lying on the sofa, the dogs began barking and Mr. Clemmer ask his daughter to hand him his shoes and he would go out and see what was causing the disturbance. He started to walk across the floor when he suddenly wavered and fell forward and expired in a few moments. Mr. Clemmer had been sick for several weeks but not bedfasat. Heart failure was the immedite cause of his death. James A. Clemmer was born in Ohio and was 67 years old. He was married in Illinois to Miss Addie Cowser, who with four children survive him. They are Charles Clemmer, Mrs. Carrie Watson and Mrs. Myetle Smith of Elmandaro Township, and Mrs. Jessie Beach of Topeka. He has a sister, Mrs. D. E. Gammell of Emporia, and two brothers, Thomas and Samuel Clemmer of Kansas City. Mr. Clemmer came to Kansas over thirty years ago and settled on a farm in Elmandaro Township which has ever since been his home. In politics he was a staunch Democrat and was County Commissioner from 1905 to 1913, being succeeded in office by N. S. Wendling. He was a member of the A. O. U. W. and Woodmen Lodges. Mr. Clemmer was a good neighbor, a splendid citizen and an earnest christian, and was held in highest esteem by the many friends he had acquired in his long residence in this community. He was a member of Methodist church at Lena Valley from which place the funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon ar 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. G. T. Rhodes and Interment in the Lena Valley cemetery. It was a warm sunshiny day and a large congreation of friends said their last sad ............

John Robert Clemmer died May 22, 2000 in his Norwalk CA home where he lived for the past 50 years. He was born December 7, 1924 to Mabel Clemmer in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was adopted by his grandparents, John Jesse and Mary Clemmer and moved to San Gabriel California in 1931. He leaves behind a son (Sonny) daughter (Cathy) 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Graveside services were held May 27, 2000 at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier CA.

CLEMMER, Joseph M.
Joseph M. Clemmer, 81, of Franconia Township died at home Wednesday after a long illness. Born in Harleysville, he was the husband of Edith Alderfer Clemmer. The couple celebrated their 60th anniversary June 20. He was the son of the late Allen Clemmer and Alice Moyer Clemmer. In the early 1920s, Clemmer left the family farm to teach music. He founded Clemmer Music Inc. in Harleysville in 1965 and formed the Musical Messengers, a group that performed at churches in several states. Clemmer also conducted concerts at Souderton High School. He was a member of Towamencin Mennonite Church, where he taught the men's Bible class for 50 years and was a song leader. Clemmer also belonged to Gideon's International and helped form a Parkinson's Disease Support Group in the Indian Valley area. He enjoyed traveling. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Wesley A., husband of Verna Clemmer of Lititz, and Dean, husband of Ellen Clemmer of Lancaster; and three daughters, Doris, wife of Leonard Stoltzfus of Douglasville, Janet A., wife of Charles Zeager of Middletown, and Lucille, wife of Harold Gahman of Telford. Also surviving are four brothers, Jacob of Sarasota, Fla., William M., husband of Betty Clemmer of Chalfont, Cyrus M., husband of Arlene Clemmer of Harleysville, and Marvin M. of Harleysville; three sisters, Mary Ellen Derstine of Franconia, Betty, wife of Sjoerd Kupeerus of New Paris, Ind., and Alice, wife of Norman Rittenhouse of Harleysville; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Joyce Mitchell Clemmer, 53, of Englewood, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000 at Woods Memorial Hospital (in Etowah - this is a note from me) A native of Athens and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her father, James D. Mitchell; and one sister, Ruth Mitchell.
Survivors include her husband, Edgar J. She was a member of Point Marion Apostolic Church.
She graduated from Mapletown High School in 1967, attended Washington and Jefferson College, and later graduated from Licensed Practical Nursing program at Monongalia County Vocational-Technical School in Morgantown, West Virginia.
She was formerly employed at Houze Glass Corporation in Point Marion and later as an L.P.N. for Morgan Manor in Morgantown and for Albert Gallatin Visiting Nurses.
She is survived by her husband, Fred B. Clemmer; three sons: Bill Clemmer, Jason Clemmer and Bobby Clemmer all of Point Marion, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Sidney Ann Clemmer.

LEBANON - Martha Faye Clemmer, 70, of Lebanon died Tuesday at Lebanon Community Hospital.
She was born in Weatherford, Okla., to Jacob and Helen (Hamm) Buschman. She grew up in Oklahoma and married Ernest Clemmer on May 30, 1948, in Pryor, Okla.
The Clemmers moved to Lebanon in 1950. Mrs. Clemmer worked 25 years in the housekeeping department at Lebanon Community Hospital.
She was a charter member of the Lebanon Women of the Moose. She liked sewing, making cough pillows for hospital patients and being with her family and her coworkers.
Surviving are her husband Ernest; sons Daniel of Uniontown, Ala.; and John and Rick, both of Lebanon; daughters Kathy Amos of Shedd and Christine Clemmer of Philomath; brother Vernon Burke of Virginia; and sister Helen Dalsing of Kalama. There are 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A sister Elizabeth Calvery died earlier.

DAYTON -- Mary Marguerite Latham Clemmer, 84, of Dayton, Virginia, from 1942 to 1998, most recently residing at Bridgewater Retirement Community, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at the Bridgewater Home.
She was born October 31, 1917, in Haymarket, Virginia, and was a daughter of the late Thomas Otis and Margarette Hamilton Latham.
Mrs. Clemmer was an active member of the Dayton Presbyterian Church and later Bridgewater Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent, Clerk of the Session, and President of the Women of the Church. In 1968, the Lexington Presbytery made her an honorary Life Member of the Women of the Church, Presbyterian Church, U.S. She was a Dayton Town Councilperson for 12 years from 1976 to 1988 and served as Treasurer of the Dayton Cemetery Association for a number of years. She served as the Treasurer of Dayton Transport Corporation from its inception in 1945 until the business was sold in 1973. She was an avid Bridge player and antique collector.
She was a graduate of Haymarket High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1939 from Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, Virginia, where she was the fourth generation of her family to be graduated.
She taught business courses at Robert E. Lee High School, Staunton, Virginia, and Dayton High School, Dayton, Virginia.
She was united in marriage on July 11, 1942, to G. Lewis Clemmer who survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons: Thomas H. Clemmer; George L. Clemmer, II; Charles L. Clemmer; their wives; one brother Carroll H. Latham of Haymarket; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, March 23, 2002, in the Lantz Chapel, at Bridgewater Home, with the Revs. John Oldman and Jack Heintzleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Dayton Cemetery.

Mrs. Clemmer, the former Minnie LaVada Morris, daughter of the late John T. and Mary Childers Morris, was born in 1893. Mr. Clemmer died in 1934. Myles Lewis Clemmer, Sr., 78, of Uniontown, Pa., died Sunday, November 24, 2002 in the Uniontown Hospital. He was born June 24, 1924 in Fargo, North Dakota, a son of the late Jack and Rayma Clemmer. Also preceding him in death were his wife Rita Schwrath Clemmer; a son Douglas Clemmer; two brothers, Jack and James Clemmer and a sister Louise Clemmer. Mr. Clemmer was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Navy and had been the manager of a mobile home park in Arizona prior to his retirement. NORTHBORO - Patricia Ann (Goodwin) Clemmer, 61, of Northboro a jazz singer, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, in Worcester after a long illness.
She leaves her husband of 36 years, William Caughey Clemmer of Northboro; two daughters, Kristen Clemmer of Ashland and Erika Clemmer of Northboro; two sons, Scott Clemmer of Grafton and David Clemmer of Northboro; two sisters, Judith Patnod of Worcester and Barbara Shultz of Oxford; four granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Worcester, daughter of Clarence and Evelyn Goodwin, she graduated from Ascension High School.
Mrs. Clemmer was a member of the Winniker Orchestra. Her husband was her piano player, and thy worked more than 40 years together. They had extended engagements in Chicago, New York, and Daytona Beach, Fla. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima. She belonged to the Vincent F. Picard Post 234 of Northboro. She enjoyed crafts, classic movies, reading and sunbathing.
The funeral arrangements are private. There will be a memorial gathering at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at the American Legion Post 234, 402 Main St.

Paul A. Clemmer died peacefully Monday morning after a two-month bout with cancer. He was born Aug. 9, 1923, to Elwood and Mary Clemmer in Norristown, Pa. Paul grew up with his siblings: Robert (deceased), Greg (deceased), Cathy Heijermans and Margaret Roberts. While stationed at Forbes Air Force Base he met Melba Worswick and they were married Jan. 25, 1945. This union was blessed with four daughters: Diana Carpenter, Oak Park, Ill., Dana Brennan and Deborah Eberline, both of Topeka, and Mary Lowery, Silver Lake. Paul also is survived by his grandchildren: Scott and Carrie Carpenter, Michael and Marcy Brennan, and Amanda Stricker, Noel Benjamin, Timothy and Alexandra Eberline, and Angela Schnee, Joshua and Sean Lowery. He also is survived by five great-grandchildren. For many years Paul and Melba served he community as the proprietors of Clemmers Furniture Store on Topeka Boulevard. He became a master craftsman of furniture repair and continued to do so until the time of his diagnosis. He also was an avid "boater" who thoroughly enjoyed building and racing RC boats, winning regularly and bringing a national championship to the Topeka Boat Club. Paul was a World War II veteran. At the age of 14 while attending church in Norristown, Pa., Paul had a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. It was his faith that directed him in all of his relationships and work. Because of his life and testimony, others have come to faith. Many also have benefited from Pauls teaching, counsel and leadership in churches where he has served. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Mr. Clemmer will lie in state at the funeral chapel after noon Wednesday, Aug. 27, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorials be given to the Midland Hospice, 200 S.W. R.E. was born August 7, 1920, in Callahan County, Texas, and was the sixth child of 12 born to Edward and Jessie Bell Windland Clemmer. They lived on a farm in the Lanham Community in the northwest corner of Callahan County, Texas. R.E. attended Lanham Elementary School and graduated from Clyde High School in 1938. He was a Navy Seabees World War II veteran and had been involved in agriculture most of his life.
R.E. married Gwendell Smith at Highland Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas, on January 17, 1953. He lived in the Mulberry Canyon Community for 46 years, serving as a community leader and 4-H leader. He was a member of the Merkel Church of Christ. R.E. served as a board member of the Middle Clear Fork Soil and Water Conservation District of Taylor County for 33 years. He was one of those instrumental in organizing Blair Water Supply Corporation and served as director for 15 years. He also served five years on the Roby Federal Land Bank board of directors.

Richard Wayne Clemmer, 68, of O'Fallon, Mo., died Tuesday, June 4, 1996, while visiting his children in Los Angeles, Calif. Born Aug. 1, 1927, in Los Angeles, Calif., he was the son of Charles and Ethel Clemmer. He married Linda Howell on May 1, 1974. Mr. Clemmer was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of Chesterfield Presbyterian Church in O'Fallon, where he was a sponsor of the Friendship Class. He was a realtor for over seventeen years, past president of the Abilene Board of Realtors, and a member of the Abilene Board of Realtors. He was Realtor of the Year in 2001. Robert married Carolyn Ann Mellor June 21, 1996 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of the Highland Church of Christ.
Robert was predeceased by his father, R. E. Clemmer.

Ruth Elizabeth Clemmer, a longtime resident of Franconia Township, PA died Thursday morning at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville. She was 65 She was the wife of 48 years to Norman C. Clemmer.
Born in Lower Salford Township, she was a daughter of Irvin F. Detwiler of Red Hill and Elizabeth (MOYER) Detwiler of Souderton.
Mrs. Clemmer had graduated from Montgomery County Community College with an Associates degree in Accounting. She then studied at the Ambler campus of Temple University and earned a Bachelors degree in accounting.
Prior to marrying, she had worked as a seamer for the former Saffire Hosiery Mill in Hatfield. After marriage and until the present she worked with her husband at Clemmer Moving & Storage, Inc. of Telford. She started 48 years ago by handling all the office duties, but as the business grew she focused on accounting. Later she became comptroller and treasurer.
She was a longtime member of Souderton Mennonite Church, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, member of the Deacon's Council, Choir, finance committee, music committee, and youth ministries. She also sang in special church music ensembles.
She had served as the local treasurer for the MaMa Project, a relief organization to Honduras.
She and her husband had been part of church-connected work service teams in Haiti, Russia, Mexico and Honduras.
They had also been part of a service team to Belize sponsored by the Souderton Telford Rotary Club. They had traveled world wide and she enjoyed reading, sewing, playing piano and the violin.
She had hosted many trainees from various foreign countries through the Mennonite Central Committee.
Along with her husband Norman, she is survived by 2 daughters, Patricia A. Clemmer of Sellersville and Julia B. Wimmer and her husband, Dean of Telford; 3 sons, Norman L of Green Lane, Robert D of Perkasie, Timothy N of Flagstaff, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 5 sisters, Lorene Nyce of Harleysville, Miriam Brookwell of Topton, Rhoda Reilly of Fullerton CA, Joyce Sneddon of Cape May NJ and 2 brothers, Irvin Detwiler of Lansdale and Homer Detwiler of Silver Springs, FL. She was predeceased by a granddaughter; and 2 brothers, Wesley and Paul.

He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and a World War II Navy veteran who received a seven stars medal. CLEMMER, Upton Lawrence M.D.
Upton Lawrence Clemmer, MD, of Redstone, deceased. The late Dr Upton Lawrence Clemmer, one of the most prominent and highly respected physicians of Fayette county, was the eldest son of Lewis Clemmer and was born in Allegany county, Maryland, November 16, 1816.
His father was a native of Maryland where he married Miss Christina Butler, daughter of Rev Gideon Butler, and later removed to Pennsylvania. He was a saddler and harness maker by trade, and after the death of his wife he married Polly Lowie of Uniontown where he died in 1866. One of his sons is G G Clemmer, a banker in Iowa.
Dr Clemmer received his early education at New Geneva, where he began the study of medicine at the age of sixteen years under the tutelage of Dr J J Steele, a prominent physician of the county. He attended lectures at the Reformed Medical College and after four years' practice, graduated in medicine in 1846.
He began the practice in Preston county, West Virginia, thence to Grandville, Monongalia county, West Virginia, and subsequently removed to Smithfield, Fayette county, where he continued successfully in the practice for eighteen years. From Smithfield Dr Clemmer removed to Brownsville, and was there engaged in the successful practice of medicine till his death, May 25, 1888.
On November 14, 1839, he was married to Miss Adelia H Massey, daughter of Wilfred Massey of West Virginia. They had twelve children, of whom eight are living: George B Clemmer, born September 20, 1842, married Fannie Garred, April, 1875; Carolina A Clemmer, born July 14, 1852; Valonia V Clemmer, born November 10, 1854; Dora M Clemmer, born April 19, 1858; Elizabeth W Clemmer, born September 11, 1861; Pearl M Clemmer, born December 30, 1862; Lawrence B Clemmer, born July 31, 1865; and Adelia B Clemmer, born June 10, 1869.
Dr Clemmer served as an assistant surgeon in the Union army at Parkersburg, West Virginia, in 1864; was the inventor of the celbrated "Clemmer's Anti-Dysenteric Cordial," and the renowned "Clemmer's Little Liver Pills." He was a democrat, had been an Odd Fellow for fifty two years and one of the founders of Gallatin Lodge at Smithfield. He had served as coroner of Fayette county and member of the Pension Examining Board. At the time of his death he owned ten acres of valuable land heavily underlaid with coal and lime. He was a man of strictest integrity and high medical ability, and was a man who lived up to his convictions of right.

Mrs. Clemmer was born Feb 4,1901. in Peoria, IIL She was a member of Battle Ground United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Clemmer was preceded in death bv her husband. George, in 1983.
Survivors include four sons, John, G. Roger and Clyde of Vancouver and Richard of Ridgefield: four daughters, Viola and Vivian, both of Vancouver. Georgine Huff of Mars Hill, N.C.. and Linda Buckbee of La Center, 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral will begin at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

NEW BERN, N.C. __ Virginia Koonce McIntire Clemmer, 94, died Friday, June 28, 2002 at Craven Regional Medical Center. Born September 8, 1907 in Wilmington, N.C. to Gaston Calhoun McIntire and Susan Koonce McIntire, she graduated from East Carolina Teachers College and received her post_graduate education at the College of William & Mary and Atlantic Christian College.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at Winter Park Presbyterian Church in Wilmington with the Rev. Dr. Matt Highfill and the Rev. Dr. Philip West officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at a reception in Chadbourn Hall at the Church.
Mrs. Clemmer was a lifelong member of Winter Park Presbyterian Church, which held its first services in her parents' home. She taught Sunday School and bible studies and held many positions in the Presbyterian Women of the Church, by whom she was presented an Honorary Life Membership in 1987. For many years, she was an inspiring, creative and well_loved 6th grade teacher at Winter Park School in Wilmington. She and her late husband Miles were former members of the Hanover Seaside Club at Wrightsville Beach and Pine Valley Country Club in Wilmington.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Miles Glenn Clemmer; granddaughter, Catherine Virginia McCulley; sisters, Ruth McIntire Sory and Miriam McIntire Nisbet; and brothers, William D. McIntire and Robert E. McIntire.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Clemmer McCulley, and son_in_law, Michael David McCulley of New Bern; brother, Alexander Haywood McIntire of Miami, FL; grandson, Michael D. McCulley, Jr. and wife, Jennifer Lee McCulley of New Bern; and several nieces and nephews.

Wallace Beard Clemmer 1/21/60 (Bevo) 44 of Blue Creek, died Thursday at his home after a heart attack. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Elkview. Surviving are his wife, Virginia; two daughters, Linda Lou and Sharon Lynn, both at home, his father and step- mother Mr. & Mrs. James H. Clemmer of Big Chimney; three brothers, A.P. (Price) of Big Chimney, A.W. (Phil) of Blue Creek, and E.L. (Butch) of Ravenswood, two sisters, Mrs. Frances Ross of Clendenin and Mrs. Bonnie Mullins of Big Chimney. Funeral services for William (Bill) A. Clemmer, 62, of 434 Wilson Road, Central Point, who died Saturday in Mexico, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Conger-Morris downtown chapel. James Mather, of the Jehovah Witness Church will officiate. Committal will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park on North Phoenix Road with Conger-Morris Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements. Mr. Clemmer was born Aug. 13, 1909, in Hartford, Kan. On Nov. 28, 1928, in Emporia, Kan., he married Ruth M. Anderson, who survives. Mr. Clemmer came to the valley in 1941 living in Jacksonville until 1959. Since then he had made his home in Central Point. He was a logger for Skeeter and Skeeter and Oscar Hansen since 1946. Survivors, besides his wife, include three children. Charles W. Clemmer, Central Point, Mrs. Eva Berton, Jacksonville, Mrs. Barbara Hammersley, Central Point; nine grandchildren; a great grandson; many nieces and nephews; four sisters, Mrs. Hattie Rutledge, Mrs. Mary Brickey, both of Hanford, Calif., Mrs. Sadie Payne, Compton, Calif., Mrs. Ava Swarner, Jerome, Idaho; two brothers, Byron Clemmer, James Clemmer, both of Emporia, Kan. William Bert Clemmer, 93, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, in Stamford.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Revs. David Bartley and Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Hamby Cemetery, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mr. Clemmer was born in Putnam and grew up in Hamby. He was a farmer and was a sheet metal worker at Tye Air Base. He worked at Abilene State School for nine years. He was a Baptist, a member of Abilene Baptist Association and deacon emeritus at Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a volunteer for the senior citizens unit at Cobb Park. He married Ethel Gooch in 1927 in the Rock Hill community near Hamby.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris M. Prewit of Stamford and Betsy Ross of Rosemond, Calif.; one son, William D. "Billy" Clemmer of Abilene; two sisters, Ruby Watts of Abilene and Thelma Brady Hall of Hamby; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. today.
