CLEMMER, Jacob M.
Jacob M. Clemmer, 87, Tucson, Ariz., and formerly of Sarasota, died Jan. 20, 2001. He was born May 13, 1913, in Harleysville, Pa., and came to Sarasota in 1986 from Souderton, Pa. He moved to Tucson in 1998. He retired after more than 10 years with Publix Supermarket in Sarasota. He was a member of Franconia, Pa., Mennonite Church.
Survivors include a son, Jacob I. Jr. of Harleysville; three daughters, Mildred L. Bauman of Telford, Pa., Lorraine L. Zook of Souderton and Betty A. Moyer of Tucson; three brothers, William of Chalfont, Pa., Cyrus of Souderton and Marvin of Harleysville; three sisters, Mary E. Derstine of Franconia, Elizabeth Kupeerus of New Paris, Ind., and Alice Rittenhouse of Harleysville; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

INDIALANTIC -- James Foster Clemmer, 78, died Sunday, August 4, 2002. Mr. Clemmer was born in Xenia, Ohio. He came to Brevard County in 1981 from Ellicott City, Md.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II having served with the 78th Infantry. Mr. Clemmer held a B.S. in Foreign service, was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, the Georgetown University Alumni Association and the Phoenix Society. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Katherine Clemmer; children, Dorothy Clemmer, John Clemmer and Timothy Clemmer; eight grandchildren; an a brother, Paul. Rev. James Harold Clemmer (Harry) Died 5/10/61 78, of big Chimney, WV died Thursday at his residence after a heart attack. He was a retired employee of Eureka Pipe Line Co. with 37 years of active service and a member of Massey Chapel Church of Big Chimney. Emporia - Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home here for James M. Clemmer 78, Emporia who died Tuesday at a Topeka hospital. He was born May 25, 1900, in Lena Valley, the son of Charles and Minnie Clemmer. He was an engineer for Santa Fe Railroad 43 years, retiring in 1966. He was a lifetime resident of Lyon County. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, both of Emporia. He was married to Erna Gramke Sept. 15, 1926 in Emporia. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, James E. Clemmer, Tampa, and Danny L. Clemmer, Wichita; three daughters, Doreen L. Sutton, Hermosa Beach, Calif., and Marlene McKinney and Doris Lowe both of Topeka; a brother, Byron Clemmer, Emporia; two sisters, Mary Brickey, Hanford, Calif., and Ava Swarner, Jerome, Idaho; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. John Robert Clemmer died May 22, 2000 in his Norwalk CA home where he lived for the past 50 years. He was born December 7, 1924 to Mabel Clemmer in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was adopted by his grandparents, John Jesse and Mary Clemmer and moved to San Gabriel California in 1931. He leaves behind a son (Sonny) daughter (Cathy) 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Graveside services were held May 27, 2000 at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier CA.

CLEMMER, Joseph M.
Joseph M. Clemmer, 81, of Franconia Township died at home Wednesday after a long illness. Born in Harleysville, he was the husband of Edith Alderfer Clemmer. The couple celebrated their 60th anniversary June 20. He was the son of the late Allen Clemmer and Alice Moyer Clemmer. In the early 1920s, Clemmer left the family farm to teach music. He founded Clemmer Music Inc. in Harleysville in 1965 and formed the Musical Messengers, a group that performed at churches in several states. Clemmer also conducted concerts at Souderton High School. He was a member of Towamencin Mennonite Church, where he taught the men's Bible class for 50 years and was a song leader. Clemmer also belonged to Gideon's International and helped form a Parkinson's Disease Support Group in the Indian Valley area. He enjoyed traveling. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Wesley A., husband of Verna Clemmer of Lititz, and Dean, husband of Ellen Clemmer of Lancaster; and three daughters, Doris, wife of Leonard Stoltzfus of Douglasville, Janet A., wife of Charles Zeager of Middletown, and Lucille, wife of Harold Gahman of Telford. Also surviving are four brothers, Jacob of Sarasota, Fla., William M., husband of Betty Clemmer of Chalfont, Cyrus M., husband of Arlene Clemmer of Harleysville, and Marvin M. of Harleysville; three sisters, Mary Ellen Derstine of Franconia, Betty, wife of Sjoerd Kupeerus of New Paris, Ind., and Alice, wife of Norman Rittenhouse of Harleysville; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Joyce Mitchell Clemmer, 53, of Englewood, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000 at Woods Memorial Hospital (in Etowah - this is a note from me) A native of Athens and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her father, James D. Mitchell; and one sister, Ruth Mitchell.
Survivors include her husband, Edgar J. While enjoying the outdoors at their home in Conestogo, on Saturday, February 15, 2003, the Lord took Karl to His heavenly home, at the age of 74 years.Karl was the beloved husband and best friend of Beryl Eloise Clemmer (nee Rudy); loving father of Deborah E. Berlet and her husband Bruce of Kitchener, Daniel Clemmer and his wife Kristine E. Fletcher of Conestogo and proud grandfather of Kurt Clemmer. Karl will be lovingly remembered by his sister, M. Kathy Mullenaux Clemmer, L.P.N., 51, of Point Marion, Pa., died Monday, April 16, 2001 at her home.
Born September 10, 1949 in Waynesburg, Pa., she was a daughter of Harley Jay Mullenaux and Rheba June HARDY Mullenaux.
She was a member of Point Marion Apostolic Church.
She graduated from Mapletown High School in 1967, attended Washington and Jefferson College, and later graduated from Licensed Practical Nursing program at Monongalia County Vocational-Technical School in Morgantown, West Virginia.
She was formerly employed at Houze Glass Corporation in Point Marion and later as an L.P.N. for Morgan Manor in Morgantown and for Albert Gallatin Visiting Nurses.
She is survived by her husband, Fred B. Clemmer; three sons: Bill Clemmer, Jason Clemmer and Bobby Clemmer all of Point Marion, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Sidney Ann Clemmer.
The family will receive friends in the Richard R. HEROD Funeral Home, Point Marion, Pa., today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday April 18, until 11 a.m., the hour of service with the Rev. David Lee COROB officiating.

She was employed as a Realtor working for Coldwell Banker Currier & Lazier in Wappingers Falls for the past 15 years. Born on Nov. 5, 1932 in Middletown, she was the daughter of William and Gladys (Cole) Ripley. She graduated from Middletown High School. Her family states "Our Mommy, Our Friend, she was loved by all who knew her as she loved them as well. She was an avid walker and enjoyed her gardens, the beach and her antiques. She had dedicated her entire life for her children and grandchildren. She will live in our hearts forever." LEBANON - Martha Faye Clemmer, 70, of Lebanon died Tuesday at Lebanon Community Hospital.
She was born in Weatherford, Okla., to Jacob and Helen (Hamm) Buschman. She grew up in Oklahoma and married Ernest Clemmer on May 30, 1948, in Pryor, Okla.
The Clemmers moved to Lebanon in 1950. Mrs. Clemmer worked 25 years in the housekeeping department at Lebanon Community Hospital.
She was a charter member of the Lebanon Women of the Moose. She liked sewing, making cough pillows for hospital patients and being with her family and her coworkers.
Surviving are her husband Ernest; sons Daniel of Uniontown, Ala.; and John and Rick, both of Lebanon; daughters Kathy Amos of Shedd and Christine Clemmer of Philomath; brother Vernon Burke of Virginia; and sister Helen Dalsing of Kalama. There are 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A sister Elizabeth Calvery died earlier.
Viewing will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Mrs. Clemmers funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.

DAYTON -- Mary Marguerite Latham Clemmer, 84, of Dayton, Virginia, from 1942 to 1998, most recently residing at Bridgewater Retirement Community, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at the Bridgewater Home.
She was born October 31, 1917, in Haymarket, Virginia, and was a daughter of the late Thomas Otis and Margarette Hamilton Latham.
Mrs. Clemmer was an active member of the Dayton Presbyterian Church and later Bridgewater Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent, Clerk of the Session, and President of the Women of the Church. In 1968, the Lexington Presbytery made her an honorary Life Member of the Women of the Church, Presbyterian Church, U.S. She was a Dayton Town Councilperson for 12 years from 1976 to 1988 and served as Treasurer of the Dayton Cemetery Association for a number of years. She served as the Treasurer of Dayton Transport Corporation from its inception in 1945 until the business was sold in 1973. She was an avid Bridge player and antique collector.
She was a graduate of Haymarket High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1939 from Mary Baldwin College, Staunton, Virginia, where she was the fourth generation of her family to be graduated.
She taught business courses at Robert E. Lee High School, Staunton, Virginia, and Dayton High School, Dayton, Virginia.
She was united in marriage on July 11, 1942, to G. Lewis Clemmer who survives.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons: Thomas H. Clemmer; George L. Clemmer, II; Charles L. Clemmer; their wives; one brother Carroll H. Latham of Haymarket; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, on Saturday, March 23, 2002, in the Lantz Chapel, at Bridgewater Home, with the Revs. John Oldman and Jack Heintzleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Dayton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Lantz Chapel, Friday, March 22, 2002, from 7 to 8 PM. Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband of 36 years, William Caughey Clemmer of Northboro; two daughters, Kristen Clemmer of Ashland and Erika Clemmer of Northboro; two sons, Scott Clemmer of Grafton and David Clemmer of Northboro; two sisters, Judith Patnod of Worcester and Barbara Shultz of Oxford; four granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews. Born in Worcester, daughter of Clarence and Evelyn Goodwin, she graduated from Ascension High School.
Mrs. Clemmer was a member of the Winniker Orchestra. Her husband was her piano player, and thy worked more than 40 years together. They had extended engagements in Chicago, New York, and Daytona Beach, Fla. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima. She belonged to the Vincent F. Picard Post 234 of Northboro. She enjoyed crafts, classic movies, reading and sunbathing.

Paul A. Clemmer died peacefully Monday morning after a two-month bout with cancer. He was born Aug. 9, 1923, to Elwood and Mary Clemmer in Norristown, Pa. Paul grew up with his siblings: Robert (deceased), Greg (deceased), Cathy Heijermans and Margaret Roberts. While stationed at Forbes Air Force Base he met Melba Worswick and they were married Jan. 25, 1945. This union was blessed with four daughters: Diana Carpenter, Oak Park, Ill., Dana Brennan and Deborah Eberline, both of Topeka, and Mary Lowery, Silver Lake. Paul also is survived by his grandchildren: Scott and Carrie Carpenter, Michael and Marcy Brennan, and Amanda Stricker, Noel Benjamin, Timothy and Alexandra Eberline, and Angela Schnee, Joshua and Sean Lowery. He also is survived by five great-grandchildren. For many years Paul and Melba served he community as the proprietors of Clemmers Furniture Store on Topeka Boulevard. He became a master craftsman of furniture repair and continued to do so until the time of his diagnosis. He also was an avid "boater" who thoroughly enjoyed building and racing RC boats, winning regularly and bringing a national championship to the Topeka Boat Club. Paul was a World War II veteran. At the age of 14 while attending church in Norristown, Pa., Paul had a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. It was his faith that directed him in all of his relationships and work. Because of his life and testimony, others have come to faith. Many also have benefited from Pauls teaching, counsel and leadership in churches where he has served. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Mr. Clemmer will lie in state at the funeral chapel after noon Wednesday, Aug. 27, where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorials be given to the Midland Hospice, 200 S.W. R.E. was born August 7, 1920, in Callahan County, Texas, and was the sixth child of 12 born to Edward and Jessie Bell Windland Clemmer. They lived on a farm in the Lanham Community in the northwest corner of Callahan County, Texas. R.E. attended Lanham Elementary School and graduated from Clyde High School in 1938. He was a Navy Seabees World War II veteran and had been involved in agriculture most of his life.
R.E. married Gwendell Smith at Highland Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas, on January 17, 1953. He lived in the Mulberry Canyon Community for 46 years, serving as a community leader and 4-H leader. He was a member of the Merkel Church of Christ. R.E. served as a board member of the Middle Clear Fork Soil and Water Conservation District of Taylor County for 33 years. He was one of those instrumental in organizing Blair Water Supply Corporation and served as director for 15 years. He also served five years on the Roby Federal Land Bank board of directors.

He was a native of Gaston County, son of the late Roscoe A. and Ila Augusta Thornburg Clemmer, husband of the late Margaret Todd Clark Clemmer, brother of three late brothers and three late sisters, retired carpenter, member of First United Methodist Church in Dallas, lifelong resident of Gaston County.

CLEMMER, Ruth Elizabeth
Ruth Elizabeth Clemmer, a longtime resident of Franconia Township, PA died Thursday morning at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville. She was 65 She was the wife of 48 years to Norman C. Clemmer.
Born in Lower Salford Township, she was a daughter of Irvin F. Detwiler of Red Hill and Elizabeth (MOYER) Detwiler of Souderton.
Mrs. Clemmer had graduated from Montgomery County Community College with an Associates degree in Accounting. She then studied at the Ambler campus of Temple University and earned a Bachelors degree in accounting.
Prior to marrying, she had worked as a seamer for the former Saffire Hosiery Mill in Hatfield. After marriage and until the present she worked with her husband at Clemmer Moving & Storage, Inc. of Telford. She started 48 years ago by handling all the office duties, but as the business grew she focused on accounting. Later she became comptroller and treasurer.
She was a longtime member of Souderton Mennonite Church, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, member of the Deacon's Council, Choir, finance committee, music committee, and youth ministries. She also sang in special church music ensembles.
She had served as the local treasurer for the MaMa Project, a relief organization to Honduras.
She and her husband had been part of church-connected work service teams in Haiti, Russia, Mexico and Honduras.
They had also been part of a service team to Belize sponsored by the Souderton Telford Rotary Club. They had traveled world wide and she enjoyed reading, sewing, playing piano and the violin.
She had hosted many trainees from various foreign countries through the Mennonite Central Committee.
Along with her husband Norman, she is survived by 2 daughters, Patricia A. Clemmer of Sellersville and Julia B. Wimmer and her husband, Dean of Telford; 3 sons, Norman L of Green Lane, Robert D of Perkasie, Timothy N of Flagstaff, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 5 sisters, Lorene Nyce of Harleysville, Miriam Brookwell of Topton, Rhoda Reilly of Fullerton CA, Joyce Sneddon of Cape May NJ and 2 brothers, Irvin Detwiler of Lansdale and Homer Detwiler of Silver Springs, FL. She was predeceased by a granddaughter; and 2 brothers, Wesley and Paul.
Viewing hours will be Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm and from 5 to 7 pm at Souderton Mennonite Church, 105 W. Chestnut St., Souderton, PA 18964. The funeral service will follow at 7 pm. Interment will be Monday, 11 am in the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the church at the above address.

She was a native of Mecklenburg County, daughter of the late Dwight H. and Etta Alexander Mullis, wife of the late Herman W. Clemmer, active in church, Sunday school teacher at Hickory Grove Baptist Church for more than 40 years.

TERRY L. CLEMMER, 76, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Memphis, retired masonry contractor, died of heart failure Wednesday at Memphis Veterans Medical Center. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church and a World War II Navy veteran who received a seven stars medal. Upton Lawrence Clemmer, MD, of Redstone, deceased. The late Dr Upton Lawrence Clemmer, one of the most prominent and highly respected physicians of Fayette county, was the eldest son of Lewis Clemmer and was born in Allegany county, Maryland, November 16, 1816.
His father was a native of Maryland where he married Miss Christina Butler, daughter of Rev Gideon Butler, and later removed to Pennsylvania. He was a saddler and harness maker by trade, and after the death of his wife he married Polly Lowie of Uniontown where he died in 1866. One of his sons is G G Clemmer, a banker in Iowa.
Dr Clemmer received his early education at New Geneva, where he began the study of medicine at the age of sixteen years under the tutelage of Dr J J Steele, a prominent physician of the county. He attended lectures at the Reformed Medical College and after four years' practice, graduated in medicine in 1846.
He began the practice in Preston county, West Virginia, thence to Grandville, Monongalia county, West Virginia, and subsequently removed to Smithfield, Fayette county, where he continued successfully in the practice for eighteen years. From Smithfield Dr Clemmer removed to Brownsville, and was there engaged in the successful practice of medicine till his death, May 25, 1888.
On November 14, 1839, he was married to Miss Adelia H Massey, daughter of Wilfred Massey of West Virginia. They had twelve children, of whom eight are living: George B Clemmer, born September 20, 1842, married Fannie Garred, April, 1875; Carolina A Clemmer, born July 14, 1852; Valonia V Clemmer, born November 10, 1854; Dora M Clemmer, born April 19, 1858; Elizabeth W Clemmer, born September 11, 1861; Pearl M Clemmer, born December 30, 1862; Lawrence B Clemmer, born July 31, 1865; and Adelia B Clemmer, born June 10, 1869.
Dr Clemmer served as an assistant surgeon in the Union army at Parkersburg, West Virginia, in 1864; was the inventor of the celbrated "Clemmer's Anti-Dysenteric Cordial," and the renowned "Clemmer's Little Liver Pills." He was a democrat, had been an Odd Fellow for fifty two years and one of the founders of Gallatin Lodge at Smithfield. He had served as coroner of Fayette county and member of the Pension Examining Board. At the time of his death he owned ten acres of valuable land heavily underlaid with coal and lime. He was a man of strictest integrity and high medical ability, and was a man who lived up to his convictions of right.

NEW BERN, N.C. __ Virginia Koonce McIntire Clemmer, 94, died Friday, June 28, 2002 at Craven Regional Medical Center. Born September 8, 1907 in Wilmington, N.C. to Gaston Calhoun McIntire and Susan Koonce McIntire, she graduated from East Carolina Teachers College and received her post_graduate education at the College of William & Mary and Atlantic Christian College.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2002 at Winter Park Presbyterian Church in Wilmington with the Rev. Dr. Matt Highfill and the Rev. Dr. Philip West officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at a reception in Chadbourn Hall at the Church.
Mrs. Clemmer was a lifelong member of Winter Park Presbyterian Church, which held its first services in her parents' home. She taught Sunday School and bible studies and held many positions in the Presbyterian Women of the Church, by whom she was presented an Honorary Life Membership in 1987. For many years, she was an inspiring, creative and well_loved 6th grade teacher at Winter Park School in Wilmington. She and her late husband Miles were former members of the Hanover Seaside Club at Wrightsville Beach and Pine Valley Country Club in Wilmington.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Miles Glenn Clemmer; granddaughter, Catherine Virginia McCulley; sisters, Ruth McIntire Sory and Miriam McIntire Nisbet; and brothers, William D. McIntire and Robert E. McIntire.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Clemmer McCulley, and son_in_law, Michael David McCulley of New Bern; brother, Alexander Haywood McIntire of Miami, FL; grandson, Michael D. McCulley, Jr. and wife, Jennifer Lee McCulley of New Bern; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for William (Bill) A. Clemmer, 62, of 434 Wilson Road, Central Point, who died Saturday in Mexico, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Conger-Morris downtown chapel. James Mather, of the Jehovah Witness Church will officiate. Committal will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park on North Phoenix Road with Conger-Morris Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements. Mr. Clemmer was born Aug. 13, 1909, in Hartford, Kan. On Nov. 28, 1928, in Emporia, Kan., he married Ruth M. Anderson, who survives. Mr. Clemmer came to the valley in 1941 living in Jacksonville until 1959. Since then he had made his home in Central Point. He was a logger for Skeeter and Skeeter and Oscar Hansen since 1946. Survivors, besides his wife, include three children. Charles W. William Bert Clemmer, 93, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, in Stamford.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Revs. David Bartley and Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Hamby Cemetery, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mr. Clemmer was born in Putnam and grew up in Hamby. He was a farmer and was a sheet metal worker at Tye Air Base. He worked at Abilene State School for nine years. He was a Baptist, a member of Abilene Baptist Association and deacon emeritus at Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a volunteer for the senior citizens unit at Cobb Park. He married Ethel Gooch in 1927 in the Rock Hill community near Hamby.
Survivors include two daughters, Doris M. Prewit of Stamford and Betsy Ross of Rosemond, Calif.; one son, William D. "Billy" Clemmer of Abilene; two sisters, Ruby Watts of Abilene and Thelma Brady Hall of Hamby; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. today.
